Sunday,January 29, Kapiolani Community College RAISING MONEY IS EASIER THAN YOU THINK It’s never too early to start collecting donations for Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk for Epilepsy. All funds go directly to the Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii to help people in our community who are affected by epilepsy. • Before you set out to fundraise,
increase your epilepsy awareness. Spend a few minutes going over the enclosed
information. Make sure you can answer the questions:
• Set a goal and compose a list of those you will ask for support. The best place to start is with family and friends, then go on to co-workers and club members. Other good places include local stores, schools and places of worship. • Take your fundraising forms with you when you're out. You never know when an opportunity may present itself. • If a person or group gives you a donation, thank them and give a receipt. Contributions are tax deductible. • If a person or group gives a polite “no,” thank them for their time. • Make sure that all donations are received by the time of the actual event and have all checks made payable to: Sharon’s Ride / Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii. Bring your donations and donor form with you on January 29. Four Ways to Raise Money: 1- In Person: Share your enthusiasm and determination with people, and they will respond positively. 2- By Phone: Make a few calls a night. It’s a great way to cover a lot of ground in a little bit of time. Create a script, so you know what you want to say. Be sure to have your epilepsy facts in front of you! 3- By Letter: Contact people you don't
see often or those who live far away. Go through your Rolodex or address
book. This may be just the excuse you need to rekindle flagging friendships!
4- By E-mail: Send an E-mail to your entire “Address Book.” Ask them to mail you a donation or direct people to www.SharonforEpilepsy.org to find out more about Sharon’s Ride.Run.Walk for Epilepsy: Sample e-mails are enclosed.
